6 Principles of Pedagogical Leadership

The book on pedagogical leadership in New Brunswick emphasizes “parallel practice,” where leaders engage with educators in ways that mirror how educators should interact with children. This approach combines coaching, mentoring, and facilitation to foster reflective practice, professional growth, and social and cultural responsiveness in early childhood education. It outlines six guiding principles for pedagogical leadership, focusing on collaboration, reflective practice, and community engagement, developed collaboratively with New Brunswick’s Early Learning and Child Care community and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (McGee Baird, EECD Consultation Session, 2022).
